Head to any shop or website and the huge choice of cleaning products is overwhelming. How do you choose? How do you know what works? It’s understandable to be a bit dubious about marketing which will focus on the positives and you don’t want to waste money on things that don’t work. I have asked a group of bloggers what their favourite cleaning products are that they have spent their own money on. Having been in a position to review lots of products and just generally working to keep their homes clean they have tested a lot of products out and so saving you the hard work these are their recommendations of the cleaning products, utensils and appliances they wouldn’t be without.

Iron & Velvet
It’s a new brand to me, but Iron & Velvet had two recommendations for their cleaning products. They sell a range of choices from oven cleaner to antibacterial surface cleaner which come as a concentrated solution you add to warm water in a reusable spray bottle. It's so easy because you drop the whole sachet in which dissolves avoiding any plastic waste. A genius product from an entirely UK based company that is kind to the planet. Bar Keepers Friend
If you have stainless steel in your kitchen then Emma recommends using Bar Keepers Friend. While it sounds like something you would put in a cocktail it’s actually a range of cleaning products, but the original version is a versatile powder you mix up with water. Emma uses it on her stainless steel hob and sink. Check the packaging or website though as there are some surfaces you shouldn’t use it on. Recommended by Ready Freddie Go
Pink Stuff

Citric Acid
Jo uses Citric Acid to remove limescale from her toilet and appliances because it works will while being cheap and eco friendly. It is found naturally in citrus fruit, but it's a manufactured version that is used for cleaning. It is an disinfectant and good for cleaning while being free of harsh chemicals that are harmful to the environment. Jo shares how she cleaned her toilet with Citric Acid in this post.
Bicarbonate of Soda
Another popular product that has many uses Alina recommends using Bicarbonate of soda (also known as baking soda) for it’s ability to remove bad smells.

White Vinegar
Lauren likes to use Bicarbonate of soda with white vinegar (while generally it isn’t recommended to combine products because the chemical reactions can give off harmful fumes, it is safe to mix bicarb and vinegar). While they both have great cleaning benefits of their own they have an additional benefit when you mix then together because of the fizz they create. Use the bicarb first and then add the vinegar after. She says her two favourite uses are: 1. Put the bicarb down a slow-draining plughole and leave for 30 mins to an hour, then add white vinegar. This will clear the blockage. 2. Mix the bicarb into a little bit of paste with water and use to scrub the oven. Spray white vinegar onto it, allow to fizz for a few seconds, then wipe off. Easiest way to clean an oven I've ever come across!

While there is normally a lot of love for Shark Cordless Vacuum cleaners they didn’t receive any recommendations from the Bloggers, but two people recommended their Dyson Cordless Vacuums.

Bissell Spot Cleaner
If you have children or pets then spillages or marks on carpet and upholstery will be a common appearance. Vorwerk Electric Floor Mop
If you are looking to clean laminate or wood floors, then Sarah recommends the Vorwerk Kobold VK200. She originally received it for review on a trial basis with all the attachments and after it was sent back she decided to buy the same model with the SP600 mop attachment because of it’s impressive cleaning ability for laminate floors that need to be cleaned without getting too wet.
A Dishwasher
You will find them in most kitchens now, but a dishwasher is something not to be without. It is a huge timesaver, they are an efficient use of water and they clean really well. It doesn't really matter which one you get, but they are well worth the money.

SonicScrubber
Sometimes it’s not about which products you use, but how you clean. A good scrub can get most items spotless, but it’s hard work which is where technology comes in. Becky recommends the SonicScrubber which is a handheld device with different attachments that she uses to clean all sorts, from sinks, to shower heads and taps.
